SKATE HOUSE

  Botucatu SP
  Residential
  410m²

Set on a 40,000 m² site in the countryside of São Paulo state, the house is conceived around the relationship between architecture and landscape. The program brings together spaces for entertaining, cooking, working and longer stays, organized to keep the land, its cerrado vegetation and its different perspectives present in the everyday experience of the house.

The site plan considers solar orientation, views and the existing topography, which was altered as little as possible. On the sloping portion of the site, the building projects over the terrain rather than following its changes in level, establishing an elevated position from which the landscape can be observed. The arrival sequence is also part of the project: the access was designed to gradually build the approach to the house and the surrounding territory.

The architecture is organized horizontally, with large openings facing the landscape and social spaces that extend the interiors toward the outdoors. Wood, stone and ceramic elements form a predominantly natural palette and establish continuity between architecture and interiors.

Site planning, materials and openings are part of a single strategy: bringing the house closer to its surroundings and maintaining the landscape as a constant presence throughout the different spaces.
