COBERTURA LEBLON

  Rio de Janeiro RJ
  Residential
  550m²

The project began with the residents’ desire to establish a more direct relationship with the climate of Rio de Janeiro. Sunlight, natural ventilation and outdoor spaces guided the choice of the penthouse and became central elements of the intervention.

On the upper floor, the existing roof slab was demolished and the new construction, built with a prefabricated steel structure, allowed for larger spans and greater continuity between inside and outside. Living room, kitchen with a table for ten, pool, deck, barbecue area, pizza oven and outdoor living area now form a continuous sequence, complemented by a gym and bathroom.

Stone flooring runs through the interior and exterior spaces and extends into the pool and the staircase leading to the deck, reinforcing the reading of the floor as a single continuous environment.

On the lower floor, the intervention reorganizes the existing program and circulation. Private areas coexist with an office  and social spaces, while a densely planted veranda alongside the living and dining rooms provides privacy from the  surroundings and brings vegetation closer to the interiors.

Architecture, interiors, lighting, cabinetry, landscape design and art curation were developed as an integrated process by the office.
